RISM B/IV 1: A late 13th century parchment manuscript from St. Pierre de Lille meas. 267 x 183 mm. and containing 48 folios numbered in modern ink at t.r.r. The 19th century binding is of worn brown paper over pulp boards. 1 blank unnumbered paper flyleaf at each end goes with the binding. The contents are quite simply the Ludus Ade de Basseia canonici Insulensis super Anticlaudianum, in other words the Anticlaudianus of canon Adam de la Bassée of Lille. The two- or at the end three-column writing is in a slightly Gothic script with red or blue or red-blue initials. The music is in mensural notation of late 13th century type with long and breve differentiation and the English conjunctura. The plica appears on both longs and breves; ligatures are only partly mensural, though there are several c.o.p. ligatures. There are 11 red four-line staves per page, sometimes odd five-line staves.
