General Description

Processional from the Dominican nunnery of Brunnenhof near Möhringen, Black Forest (Geering, 7). On f. 326 there is a German song with musical references such as 'Die engel harphent, singent, springent' and 'Maria, du kanst tanzen wol'. With the exception of the here monodic no. 1, the polyphonic repertory is identical with that of GenfA, another processional of South German origin.

The main initials are in blue with red contrast, the others in either blue or red or sometimes brown and black ink. There are often marginal ornaments stemming from the initials.

RISM Description

RISM B/IV 1: A late 13th century parchment codex meas. 90 x 63 mm. and consisting of 340 folios in a red leather binding with two missing clasps. A letter N is scratched in the front cover. This Processional is from the Dominican nunnery of Brunnenhof near Möhringen (Black Forest), according to Geering, 7. The plainsong is in the usual square notation on five red four-line staves per page. Single notes are written as longs throughout. The notes like plicas are one scribe's variant longs. The main initials are in blue with red contrast, the others in either blue or red or sometimes brown and black ink. Marginal ornament stemming from the initials is frequent. There is an old foliation in brown ink at t.m.r. from f. 1-166 (with breaks and errors), which is completed for the rest of the ms by a modern pencil foliation at t.r .r.
