General Description

A polyphonic hymn on f. 77 of a manuscript containing a liturgical calendar and monophonic settings of various psalms and hymns. This host MS is mid-13th century, with additions from the 15th and 16th centuries; the polyphonic hymn was added in the mid-15th century. Copied for the cathedral in Cambrai.

77 parchment folios, 316 x 243. Several folios are now missing. Covers of brown tooled calfskin over wooden boards; remnants of clasps. Initials illuminated in vermilion and azure. The manuscript contains a liturgical calendar and monophonic settings of various psalms and hymns, in chant notation on red 4-line staves. The polyphonic hymn, in white mensural notation, is on f. 77; the piece also appears in CambraiBM 6.

Mid-13th century, with additions from the 15th and 16th centuries. The polyphonic hymn was added in the mid-15th century. Copied for the cathedral in Cambrai.
