The only polyphonic item is the very popular Kyrie from Vatican Mass V for two voices, on p. 274 in the Kyriale, in score. Belonged to Guicardi ab Holdingen in 1617 (see ex libris on f. 1).

Foliation

A modern ink pagination in black appears at t.r.r. and t.l.v. An incomplete old foliation in red ink occurs at t.l.v. from f. ii-lxxxviii (i seems to have been rubbed away, while lxxxviiii and lxxxx were added later in brown ink). There is another old foliation at t.m.r. from 2-26.

DIAMM, 2017

The script is a Gothic minuscule with mainly red but also some blue initials. (The first initial as usual is a big A in blue and red for Ad te levavi)

RISM Description

RISM B/IV 2: An early 14th century parchment Gradual meas. 217 x 160 mm. and containing 170 folios. In addition, there are 3 blank paper folios at both front and back. According to the ex-libris on f. 1, the ms belonged to Guicardi ab Holdingen in 1617. This is confirmed by the binding, which bears the letters IGAH above a coat-of-arms and the date 1602 in black below. The binding is of white leather with blind tooling; the arms are decorated with some gilt, and there are 2 clasps. The front and back covers are over wooden boards and bevelled inwards. A modern ink pagination in black appears at t.r.r. and t.l.v. An incomplete old foliation in red ink occurs at t.l.v. from f. ii-lxxxviii (i seems to have been rubbed away, while lxxxviiii and lxxxx were added later in brown ink). There is another old foliation at t.m.r. from 2-26. The script is a Gothic minuscule with mainly red but also some blue initials. (The first initial as usual is a big A in blue and red for Ad te levavi). The notation in Gothic neumes is more elegant towards the beginning than later but is never heavy. There are normally 12 red four-line staves per page with c and f clefs, used simultaneously. Normal square plainsong notation occurs on p. 337 and heavier, but not very heavy, Gothic neumes on the next two pages. The staves on p. 339 are brown. There is a sizeable sequentiary from p. 276 to 336. The only polyphonic item, the very popular Kyrie from Vatican Mass V for two voices, is in the same notation as the rest of the codex. It is to be found on p. 274 in the Kyriale. The incipit is like D-ETw 44 3, but here the order of parts is reversed. The score notation employs the characteristic barlines, which go right through both staves.
