RISM Description

A Gradual dated 1390 from a Franciscan monastery or Maria Schnee church in Prague. The polyphonic `Liber generationis' belongs with the oldest part of the ms. in Bohemian choral notation. There are also 3 (later?) Credos

14./16. Jh.; 236 Blätter Pergament (+ 1 in den hinteren Deckel geklebtes Blatt), 540 x 390 mm. Moderne Foliierung (jedes 10. Blatt) von f. 1-236 (237). Je Seite meist 8 rote Vierlinien-, ab f. 222v Fünfliniensysteme mit böhmischer Choralnotation (zum Teil mit mensuralen Elementen); im jüngeren Teil zudem schwarze Mensuralnotation - Einband: Original 15./16. Jh.; mit braunem Leder überzogene Holzdeckel, Beschläge.

Diese Handschrift, ein Graduale, besteht aus mehreren, zu verschiedenen Zeiten geschriebenen Teilen: f. 18-112v, datiert 1390 ("finitum hoc opus per Bartham de Verona 1390"); f. 5-17v und f. 113-220, datiert 1473; f. 1-4, 15./16. Jh. Nach Vykoukal und Bartoš (vergleiche Literatur) stammt die Handschrift aus einem Prager Franziskaner Kloster oder aus der Prager Kirche Maria Schnee, nach den neuesten Forschungen von F. Fišer (Litoměřice) jedoch aus Pilsen (mündliche Mitteilung).
