RISM Description

RISM B/IV 2: A collection of parchment musical fragments of the Middle Ages in a large late 19th century portfolio with mottled paper cover. Among these leaves are two containing motets and mass movements from the second half of the 14th century. They now meas. 243 x 200 mm. and 282 x 200 mm. respectively, and may come from different medieval manuscripts originally, though it is impossible to be certain about this. The Ars Nova notation is written on 9 (originally 10) red five-line staves per page on f. I (my numbering), and on 10 per page on f. II. The semi-Gothic script has red or purple initials on f. I and red or black ones on f. II. On both folios the top stave is cut away.
