General Description

Theoretical contents include Declaratio of Ugolino of Orvieto (Book I) and portions of Lucidarium of Marchettus of Padua. Treatises copied by three or four scribes, probably including 'Le petit Basque,' named on f. 185. One of these scribes (Lepetit Basque?) also copied (and may have composed) the polyphonic pieces on ff. 185'-188. Probably copied in northern Italy. Owned in 1740's by Giacomo Soranzo of Venice; later acquired by the Jesuit antiquarian Matteo Luigi Canonici (1727-1805) of Venice. Canonici collection passed to Giovanni Perissinotti in 1807; sold to Bodleian Library in 1817.
