General Description

A Tenor partbook from an incomplete set of five volumes. Repertory in four sections. Copied by several scribes, including 'Tob. Schönfeld.' Copied in Liegnitz (= Legnica), for use in the court chapel of Georg Rudolf, Duke of Liegnitz (1595-1653), an amateur musician and collector of music. Ducal library ('Bibliotheca Rudolfina') housed in Johanniskirche in Liegnitz until 1698, then transferred to nearby ducal palace. In 1741, it was incorporated into the library of the Königliche Ritter-Akademie.

Physical Description

The Quintus (listed in CCM) is not listed in the Rudolfina catalogue and appears to have been lost; and the 8vv pieces in section 4 do not have 7a or 8a voices (presumably copied in books also now missing). Nos. 47-61 in section 2 of this book are misbound after no. 68.
