A Breviary written in a neat Gothic minuscule (f. 1-125); a Psalter litany, etc. (f. 133-180v), a Hymnary with music (f. 181 to 197v); and further readings (f. 198-332). A calendar appears on f. 126 to 132v (see F. Wormald, English Benedictine Calendars after 1100 I, A-D (Henry Bradshaw Society, vol. LXXVII (1938), 162). The voice-exchange hymn 'Nunc sancte nobis spiritus' appears in two-part score on f. 182v. The incipit is as in Cb 102, but a fifth higher. Probably written for Coldingham Priory in the Berwick area.

RISM Description

RISM B/IV 1: A 14th century vellum manuscript meas. 257 x 110 mm. and containing 334 folios, of which 2 are end flyleaves. In addition, there is an unnumbered paper flyleaf at the front which goes with the probably 19th century binding of brown leather with gilt tooling on the spine and the gilt initials MB on the front cover. This codex was apparently written for Coldingham Priory in the Berwick area. It consists of a Breviary written in a neat Gothic minuscule (f. 1-125), a Psalter litany, etc. (f. 133-180v), a Hymnary with music (f. 181 to 197v) and finally more readings (f. 198-332). A calendar appears on f. 126 to 132v (see F. Wormald, English Benedictine Calendars after 1100 I, A-D (Henry Bradshaw Society, vol. LXXVII (1938), 162). The voice-exchange hymn "Nunc sancte nobis spiritus" appears in square unmeasured notation on red four-line staves in two-part score on f. 182. There are generally 12 staves per page. The incipit is as in Cb 102, but a fifth higher.
