General Description

Single piece of music, 'Sepe precinebant patres,' copied across back of bifolio in a volume of accounts for St. Mary's College (Mettingham, Suffolk), 1515. (New f. 128 and f. 142 are a bifolio folded to form a wrapper for ff. 129-141; new ff. 128 and 142'). Probably copied at St. Mary's College, in Mettingham, Suffolk.

183 paper folios, 291 x 212. Modern pencil foliation, 1-183. Original? covers of brown suede tooled leather. Accounts for St. Mary's College (Mettingham, Suffolk) for 1515. New f. 128 and f. 142 are a bifolio folded to form a wrapper for ff. 129-141; single piece of music, "Sepe precinebant patres," copied across back of bifolio (= new ff. 128 and 142').

Early 16th century. Of English origin; music probably copied at St. Mary's College, in Mettingham, Suffolk. Later owned by Thomas Martin (d. 1771) of Palgrave; Thomas Manning; and Charles Robertson Manning, rector at Diss, Norfolk. Acquired by British Museum in 1891.
