RISM Description

RISM B/IV 2 A set of 5 parchment leaves (a quinio) meas. 215 x 166 mm. and tied with a narrow strip of parchment into a cover which turns out to be a page of 14th century Enghsh music in Ars Nova notation. This page has the dimensions 323 x 214 mm. The body of the pamphlet is occupied, except for 3 blank pages at the end, by transcripts in various late 15th century hands of 23 deeds originally executed between 1218 and 1331. Only 5 are dated, but these grants and agreements are all concerned with the Spillman family estates of Rodborough, included today in Stroud Urban District. The lady of the manor was abbess of Caen, and her name heads some of the deeds. There is no foliation anywhere. The two three-part Gloria Tro on the cover occupy 5 accolades of 3 brown five-line staves per page.
