General Description

A folder of binding fragments, all musical, all chant except one with polyphony. The polyphonic leaves consist of two vertical strips. On the outside is Add. 2750 (3) (over deletion of Add. 2748 (1), which should therefore be considered an olim); AND 'F'. In the front inside of the binder is written '1916 Liturgies F', and a piece of paper in the folder says '2750 (F) Jenkinson Collection 1923. The two strips are respectively labelled Add. 2750 (3) a and Add. 2750 (3) b.

'a': The fold and sewing holes presumably belong to the reuse, though they are in the right place to have been the original binding fold, and if that is the case, the page should be a recto. But the Clef is C1 and there is no room for a lower-cleffed part beneath, so I am treating the side with the modern call number on as a verso. Full black notation with, apparently, void coloration. Remains of 3 staves plus residual text. On the other side (original recto?): ends of five staves, with a few, syllables, notes and custodes.

'b' copied by same scribe. same scribe. Folded through the music, so fold belongs to re-use.On presumed recto (the side with the modern call number on) three staves of untexted full black notation cleffed F4, presumably a contratenor, with leaping octave cadence; followed by a part labelled Tenor, five staves of C4, some with flat signature, the first two with double row of text underlay, then two with single underlay, suggesting balade form.

Verso: ends of 7 staves, the first two with double text underlay (rhyming -esse and -aunce), then two with single underlay. Notes and custodes, no coloration on the surviving material.
