General Description

Copied by a single scribe, probably 'P SL Gwalth(er),' who also wrote MunBS 510 and part of MunBS 65; Gwalther named only in MunBS 65 and MunBS 510, but WolfA identified as his work through scribal concordance (RifRM). Copied in Munich, for use at court of Wilhelm IV, Duke of Bavaria (1493-1550). Removed from Munich by Swedish armies in 1631. Acquired in 1653 by August the Younger, Duke of Braunschweig-Lüneburg-Wolfenbüttel (1579-1666), from Georg Forstenheuser, of Nuremberg.

192 parchment folios, 605 x 420. Modern pencil foliation on lower right rectos. Original covers of gold-tooled leather over boards; metal clasps. No index. Copied by a single scribe, probably "P SL Gwalth(er)," who also wrote MunBS 510 and part of MunBS 65; Gwalther named only in MunBS 65 and MunBS 510, but WolfA identified as his work through scribal concordance (RifRM). Elaborate illuminated miniatures, initials, and borders include coats of arms of Bavaria and Austria; coats of arms of various Bavarian cities; and portraits of Albrecht IV and Wilhelm IV, Dukes of Bavaria, and Emperors Maximilian I and Charles V.
