General Description

The main scribe was Johannes Greis, identified on f. 366' as 'rector scholarium' at Benedictine monastery at Benediktbeuern; piece on f. 313' is a later addition by a different scribe. Copied at the former Benedictine monastery in benedik (southern Bavaria). Transferred to Bayerische Staatsbibliothek during 19th century.

  1. Jh.; 375 Bll. Pap., 150 X 105mm. Mod. Fol. von f. 1-375. Je Seite bis zu 6 schwarze Fünfliniensyst. mit weißer und vereinzelt schwarzer Mensuralnot, sowie gotischer Choral- u. Quadratnot. ; einst. Stücke in gotischer Choralnot. - Einband : 15. Jh., mit erneuertem Rücken; mit braunem Leder überzogene Holzdeckel.

Diese aus dem ausgehenden 15. Jh. stammende Hs. wurde von Johannes Greis, rector scholarium, in Benedictbeuern geschrieben (vgl. f. 366v: dat. 1495, nicht 1476). Sie stellt eine Art von Manual für den Kirchengesang dar. Den lateinischen sind mehrfach deutsche Texte beigegeben. Die ersten Bll. der ursprünglichen Hs. fehlen.
