i + 155 + i paper folios, 392 x 265. Original ink foliation, 1-144; new pencil foliation, 145-155. Original covers of dark brown leather over wooden boards, tooled in gold with ornamental design; two brass buckles. No index. Copied by one main scribe, with later additions (ff. 147'-155) by two different scribes, one of whom may have been Carlos Patiño (chapel master at Real Convento de las Senoras de la Encarnaçion in Madrid from 1628). Staff height 21. Some folios have inked calligraphic initials; others have plain inked initials. No watermarks visible. Repertory includes items for Matins and Compline, especially for Holy Week and for Office of the Dead.
Early 17th century, with additions ca. 1628 or later. Perhaps copied in Madrid, for use at the Real Convento de las Senoras de 1a Encarnaçion. Acquired from the Encarnaçion by Benedictine monastery at Montserrat, probably during 1920's.
