General Description

Motet on recto. Its text (in Latin on recto, with German translation on verso) praises Jost von Silenen, Bishop of Sitten 1482-96. The motet is stylistically congruent with two other dedicatory pieces by Frank in HradKM 7 and WarU 2016; all three pieces share thematic material (StaeBF). Copied in Bern; presented to Jost von Silenen, Bishop of Sitten.

1 parchment folio, 600 x 780. Motet on recto; three voices copied in white mensural notation; tenor not notated, but Latin riddle provides key to derivation. Motet text (in Latin on recto, with German translation on verso) praises Jost von Silenen, Bishop of Sitten 1482-96; latter's coat of arms painted in gold, red, green, and blue on lower center recto. One initial, in calligraphic style. Motet stylistically congruent with two other dedicatory pieces by Frank in HradKM 7 and WarU 2016; all three pieces share thematic material (StaeBF).
