General Description

A Tenor III partbook from a set originally of 12 volumes: D1, A1, T1; A2, B2; D3, A3, T3, B3 survive. Probably copied in Rome (LockCR). Original owner and compiler possibly Pompeius Paterius, named at beginning of each book.

The B1, Q, and S books are believed to have been in the Archivio della Congregazione dell'Oratorio in Rome until at least c. 1958. They are described by LockCR, 321, as being in the 'Convento dei Padre Filippini' [= Archivio della Congregazione dell'Oratorio], but are now missing. However, the four partbooks listed by LockCR as missing (i.e., D3, A3, T3, and B3, containing parts for the àl2 works) have subsequently been located; they are now preserved in the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale Vittorio Emanuele II.

4 other books from the set are held at the Accademia di Sta Cecilia (RomeSC 792-5). A transcription of the whole set was made in 1821 and is preserved in the Santini collection in Münster as MS 3590.

They are described by LockCR, 321, as being in the "Convento dei Padre Filippini" [= Archivio della Congregazione dell'Oratorio]. Since the time of Lockwood's research, these three partbooks have apparently been removed from the Archivio della Congregazione dell'Oratorio; their present location is unknown.
