General Description

A manuscript 'ad ecclesiam S. Petri Antiquarii M [ontis] Jovis '(= Bourg-St Pierre, a dependency of Grand-St-Bernard) contains polyphonic songs and lessons from the Gospel. Additions have been made by various composers, probably for the Hospice of St. Bernard The Great (written 'PROSAR').

RISM B/IV 3: 15./16. Jh.; 255 Blätter Papier, 220 x 160 mm. Originale Foliierung von f. III-XVI, anschließend teils ältere, teils jüngere Pag. von 221-255. Je Seite 6 Vierliniensysteme mit römischer Quadratnotation und ab p. 215 teilweise schwarze Mensuralnotation - Einband: Holzdeckel; Rücken fehlt.

Diese spätestens um 1480 "Ad ecclesiam Antiquarii S. Petri M[ontis] Jovis" (= Bourg St.-Pierre, abhängig vom Großen St. Bernhard) begonnene Handschrift ist ein von mehreren Händen des späten 15. und frühen 16. Jahrhunderts wohl für das Hospiz des Großen St. Bernhard geschriebenes Prosar, welches ab p. 215 mehrstimmige Liedtropen und Evangeliumslektionen enthält.

[Translation] 255 sheets of paper, 220 x 160 mm. Original foliation in f. III-XVI, then some older, some younger pagination from 221-255. 6 four-line systems with Roman square notation, and from p. 215 partially black mensural notation - Binding: wood covers, spine is missing.

This manuscript' ad ecclesiam S. Petri Antiquarii M [ontis] Jovis "(= Bourg-St Pierre, a dependency of Grand-St-Bernard) contains polyphonic songs and lessons from the Gospel. Dating from 1480 at the latest, it was added to by various composers throughout the late 15th and early 16th Century, probably for the Hospice of St. Bernard The Great (written 'PROSAR') .
