258 parchment + 2 paper folios [16th- or 17th-century additions], 450 x 353. Original ink foliation, I-CCLVI, on upper left versos (last two parchment and two paper folios not numbered); modern pencil foliation, 1-260, on upper right rectos (sporadic but includes all folios in enumeration). Original covers of brown leather over wooden boards, with clasps. No index. Large, elaborately decorated initials and miniatures. Square notation on red 4-line staves. Polyphonic pieces, on ff. 257'-258, are later additions in Gothic chant notation and score format.
Ca. 1325-50 (main corpus); polyphony probably added in 15th century; ff. 258'-259 contain monophonic additions from 16th or 17th century. Of south German origin; copied in a Cistercian monastery, perhaps in Baden. Later belonged to Cistercian convent at Wonnental bei Kenzingen, in south Baden; transferred in 1806 to Grossherzogliche Hofbibliothek (now Badische Landesbibliothek) in Karlsruhe.
