2 paper partbooks of an original 5 (A-38 folios, Q.-23), 148 x 194. DTB part-books now lost, except for covers of B book, still preserved with AQ books; some original folios now missing from AQ books. No foliation or pagination. Original numbering of pieces in two series, 1-12 + 1-12 (some pieces not numbered). Original covers of red and white leather over cardboard, tooled with decorative designs, voice designations, and date "1563"; leather ties. No index. Copied by several scribes. Some inked initials in plain block style. Only fragments of watermark visible.
Second half of 16th century (date 1563 on covers; date 1594 in section of later additions). Of German origin.
