General Description

Polyphonic pieces on ff. l'-17, 23'-24, and 29'-30. Polyphony copied by two scribes. Probably copied at a monastery in Veneto region of northern Italy. Owned in early 19th century by the scholar and book collector Pier Vittorio Aldini (1773-1842) of Pavia; passed to Pavia University Library in 1840.

RISM Description

RISM

XVe s. 81 ff. Papier, 150 x 115 mm. Foliotation moderne. Les ff. 31 à 33v sont blancs. Notation mesurée noire (Nos 6 et 18, notation mesurée blanche; no 16, notation grégorienne). 2 à 4 portées par p.

Ce ms., très probablement originaire de Vénétie, appartenait à Petrus de Fossis, maître de chapelle à St. Marc (de 1491 à 1527), qui le laissa au monastère de S. Salvatore à Venise. Il contient une majorité de laude en latin et en italien, dont 3 se retrouvent dans I-Vm145 (nos 2, 5, 7), les 2 mss. présentant beaucoup de similitudes. Outre les pièces musicales, on y trouve des ouvrages théoriques qui sont décrits par P. Fischer (cf. Bibliogr.). Monterosso en situe la copie entre 1440 et 1460.

Polyphonic pieces on ff. l'-17, 23'-24, and 29'-30, copied in black mensural notation, except for textless piece on f. 6 and Kyrie on ff. 29'-30, in white mensural notation. Polyphony copied by two scribes. No initials or decoration.
