Foliotation ancienne 1-59 ne tenant pas compte des 3ff. limin. foliotés postérieurement I-III. Les ff. 58 et 59 sont blancs. Au f. 12v-13, pièce inachevée, sans paroles et entièrement barrée. Notation mesurée blanche. 4 portées par p. Aux ff. Iv-III, table du ms. Rehure ancienne cuir estampé or. Partie de Tenor seul' de pièces de 3 à 7vx.
Ms. copié par plusieurs scribes italiens à quelques années de distance: on peut en distinguer six, dont deux principaux. Se basant sur le répertoire, H. Osthoff date le ms. entre ca. 1515 et 1530 (OsthoffJD II, 17), tandis que K. Jeppesen sur la foi du filigrane (l'ancre dans un cercle dont il limite l'emploi au début du XVIe s. alors qu'on le rencontre en réalité jusqu'en 1578), et sur un contresens concernant l'opinion de Torrefranca sur le motet no 35 (cf. plus bas), situe le recueil juste avant le milieu du siècle. Enfin, B. Blackburn, remarquant que trois des nombreux contrafacta de Josquin (nos 31, 39, 44) et une chanson (no 32) sont établis sur une version des chansons très semblables à celles du Septiesme livre sorti chez Susato en 1545 (1545-15), date le ms. entre ca 1530 et 1550. Mais, se serait-on encore donné la peine de copier à une date aussi tardive la lamentation sur la mort d'Anne de Bretagne survenue en 1514 (no 24) et tout un répertoire dont une partie non négligeable avait déjà été imprimée par Petrucci, c'est-à-dire avant 1519? D'autre part, Torrefranca (p. 94) remarque que le motet Alti signori (no 35), où il est rendu hommage au «Signor Gritti Andrea», ne peut avoir été composé après 1523, date où Gritti fut élu doge de Venise.
