General Description

A Graduale from the Cistercian monastery of Wonnetal at Keuzingen. According to the latest art-historical research of Frl. Prof. Dr. E. Beer (Bern), the handwriting dates from the second quarter of the 14th Century. On f. 257v/258r the only two-sentences in gothic chant notation have been added; on f. 258v/259 there are further additions from the 16th or 17th century. Contents: f. 1-213 Graduale; f. 213-232r Kyriale (cycles), litanies; f. 232v-257r sequences; f. 257v-259r Ordinaries, Alleluia (Supplements).

RISM BIV/3: 14./16. Jh.; 258 Blätter Pergament + 2 jüngere Blätter Papier, 450 x 353 mm. Moderne Foliierung von f. 1-260; originale Foliierung von f. I-CCVI. Je Seite 9 rote Vierliniensysteme mit Quadratnotation; ab f. 257 je 10 Vierliniensysteme mit gotischer und römischer Choralnotation (Nachträge) - Einband: 14. Jh.; mit braunem Leder überzogene Holzdeckel, Beschläge.

Diese Handschrift ist ein prachtvoll illuminiertes Graduale aus dem Zisterzienserkloster Wonnental bei Kenzingen. Nach den neuesten kunsthistorischen Forschungen von Frl. Prof. Dr. E. Beer (Bern) wurde die Handschrift im zweiten Viertel des 14. Jh. geschrieben. Auf f. 257v/258r stehen als Nachträge die einzigen zweistimmigen Sätze in gotischer Choralnotation; auf f. 258v/259 folgen weitere Nachträge des 16. oder 17. Jh.

Inhalt: f. 1-213 Graduale; f. 213-232r Kyriale (Zyklen), Litaneien; f. 232v-257r Sequenzen; f. 257v-259r Ordinariumssätze, Alleluia (Nachträge).
