Composite of several originally separate fascicles later rearranged and bound together. Polyphony on ff. 55'-62, 67-69, 138'-139, 142-142', 145', 152'-169, 170-170', 171'-175, 176'-178, copied by several scribes. Probably copied in Prague, for use at Church of St. Castullus (RISM).

RISM Description

RISM BIV/3: 16. Jh.; 338 Blätter Papier + je 3 moderne Vorsatz- und Nachstoßblätter, 310 x 210 mm. Moderne Foliierung von f. 1-336, (einzelne leere Blätter nicht mitgezählt); von f. 78-128 und f. 179-265 auch originale Foliierung A I-XV bis J I-XIV. Je Seite meist 7 rote Vier- oder Fünfliniensysteme mit böhmischer Choralnotation sowie schwarzer und (seltener) weißer Mensuralnotation - Einband: modern (1958 restauriert); Holzdeckel mit Pergament und Resten des alten Einbandes überzogen.

Die Handschrift ist ein aus verschiedenen Teilen zusammengesetztes, im Laufe des 16. Jh. geschriebenes utraquistisches Graduale, das vermutlich aus der Prager Kirche St. Castullus stammt. Einige Teile wurden auf Kosten von Handwerkern, wahrscheinlich der Prager Altstadt, geschrieben. Die Nrn. 9-11 und 28-38 gehören zu den spätesten Eintragungen.

Inhalt: Die Texte sind bis f. 62 ausschließlich lateinisch; besonders ab f. 162 oft auch tschechisch. - f. 1-62 Ordinariumssätze ; f. 62v-72v Weihnachtsgesänge, Antiphonen und ähnlich; f. 78-120 Proprium zum Advent; f. 120v-178 Kantionen und Cantilenae (Motetten); f. 179-265 Proprium missae; f. 265-335v Sequenzen.
