General Description

From a Clarissen or Tertiary convent in Dordrecht. In addition to Dutch spiritual lyrics, it contains mostly monophonic music. The manuscript came into the Bibliothek von Scheidius in 1806, among those of von Meermann (No. 1042), and from there into the possession of Th. Phillipps, finally ending up in the Bibliothèque Royale in Brussels. Contents: f. 2-10, 55v-87, 92v-93v monophonic antiphons, lessons, Cantiones, Benedicamus etc., including (among a group of Benedicamus), the two-voice piece fully transcribed below. The remaining folios contain song texts.

RISM BIV/3: 16. Jh.; 95 Blätter Papier, 211 x 144 mm. Moderne Foliierung von f. 1-93 (die 2 letzten Blätter ohne Foliierung); moderne f. 19-93 = originale f. I-LXXX (zum Teil Pag.; einzelne Blätter fehlen). Je Seite 2-7 Vierliniensysteme mit gotischer Choralnotation und vereinzelt weißer Mensuralnotation — Einband: modern; braune Pappdeckel mit Lederrücken.

Die nach Knuttel aus einem Clarissen- oder Tertiarierinnenkloster in Dordrecht stammende Sammelhandschrift aus der ersten Hälfte des 16. Jh. (Jahrzahl 1525 auf f. 48v) enthält neben niederländischen geistlichen Liedtexten meist einstimmige Musik. Die Handschrift gelangte 1806 aus der Bibliothek von Scheidius in diejenige von Meermann (Nr. 1042), von da in den Besitz von Th. Phillipps und später in die Bibliothèque Royale von Brüssel.

Inhalt: f. 2-10, 55v-87, 92v-93v einstimmige Antiphonen, Lektionen, Cantionen, Benedicamus unter anderem, darunter (innerhalb einer Gruppe von Benedicamus) das unten vollständig mitgeteilte zweistimmiges Stück. Die übrigen Folios enthalten Liedtexte.
