General Description

Once used as pastedowns in binding of Exemplar of incunabulum Rainerius de Pisis: Pantheologia (Augsburg, 1474). Folios originally part of larger manuscript in choirbook format; additional fragments from same manuscript now BratisM 33. Earlier binder glued bifolios together to form two large pastedown sheets, 403 x 278-83, each consisting of two bifolios joined bottom to bottom. When volume reached present library c. 1950, pastedowns were removed and earlier covers discarded. Copied by one or two scribes. Probably copied at Dominican monastery in Kosice (= Kassa = Kaschau). Later in Franciscan provincial library in Bratislava; transferred to present library c. 1950. Several lines of text appear on the folio containing two of these fragments. However, the relationship (if any) between the texts and the music on this folio has not been clarified.
