General Description

Copied by one or two scribes; probably copied at Dominican monastery in Košice (= Kassa = Kaschau). Once used as pastedowns in binding of incunabulum Leonardus de Utino: Sermones cuadragesimales (Venice, 1473). Folios with music originally part of larger manuscript in choirbook format; additional fragments from same manuscript now BratisU 318. Earlier binder glued bifolios together to form pastedown sheets for incunabulum; pastedowns removed from binding c. 1968. Incunabulum and music fragments later in Franciscan provincial library in Bratislava; subsequently moved to library listed above. Sent to Martin for restoration c. 1968, at which time music fragments were separated from binding. Incunabulum still preserved in Martin, but music fragments apparently lost or destroyed at time of restoration.

1 Kyrie, 1 Sanctus (incomplete), 6 motets (3 incomplete), 1 German secular piece, 1 textless piece - 10*

'List of contents derived from partial photographs made by Polycarp Rado ca. 1940, and later deposited in Országos Széchényi Konyvtár in Budapest (MS 495). Reverse sides of folios with music were glued to covers of incunabulum (see below) when Rado photos were made, making some music inaccessible. Although folios were separated from incunabulum binding ca. 1968, presumably making all music accessible, fragments were apparently lost before photograph of reverse sides could be made.
