RISM Description

RISM B/IV 4: 12./15.

[Translation] 199 parchment leaves + 1 leaf modern forepaper, 260 x 180 mm of modern pencil foliation f. 1-199; also two older, not consistent Foliations - Binding: 19th Century; box with leather spine.

This manuscript came from the monastery of S. Domenico in Bologna. It is a Graduale (but described as an Antiphoner!) It was created in the 12th or 13th centuries in Italy, using square notation closely related to neumes. There are red F- and yellow c-noted lines. Probably slightly later (maybe even the 13th century) are the two pieces in score notation (neume chant notation) on scratched, five-line systems on f. 199r. Much later (perhaps the end of the 14th/early 15th century) is a fragmentary addition: a five-line system in black mensural with a single voice written on f. 199v.
