General Description

A fragmentary manuscript discovered in 1914 by B. Claussen, removed from the binding of other MSS and bound together to form an independent book. It is written in three hands in the last quarter of the 15th Century and contains both German and Latin texts and melodies scattered with a few polyphonic pieces.

RISM B IV/3: 15. Jh.; 44 Blätter Papier, 110/128 x 85/96 mm (ursprünglich ca. 145 x 100mm). Moderne Foliierung von f. 1-44. Je Seite bis zu 5 Fünfliniensysteme mit meist schwarzer Mensuralnotation, vereinzelt gotische Choral-und weiße Mensuralnotation - Einband: modern (1960), im Stil des 15. Jh.

Diese als Rostocker Liederbuch bekannte, fragmentarische Handschrift wurde 1914 durch B. Claussen in einem Einband eines größeren Buches entdeckt und zu einem selbständigen Band zusammengebunden. Sie ist von drei Händen im letzten Viertel des 15. Jh. geschrieben worden und enthält neben deutschen und vereinzelt lateinischen Texten und Melodien nur wenig Mehrstimmiges. — Die Handschrift wurde 1960 restauriert.
