General Note

In Krasinski, the Christmas motet text is accompanied by an alternative text ('Nitor inclite claredinis ovans laxat valedinis sicientis') which begins with the acrostic 'Nicolaus' (perhaps Nicolaus (Mikołaj) of Blonie, author of the text?). The text celebrates the birth of Prince Wladislaus (Władysław Warnenczyk) 'on the eve of All Saints Day 1424', the first son of Władysław II Jagiełło.

Other proposals for the text author include Stanisław Ciołek, or, if 'Nicolaus' is therefore the composer - perhaps Mikołaj de Radom - it has been suggested that Radomski may have also written the text.
