General Description

Recovered from front and back covers of rent book, though the fragments apparently not from same original manuscript. Music appears only on rectos; versos blank, or have blank staves only. Each fragment copied by a different scribe; one scribe possibly Christofle Masson, singer at Church of St. George, Nancy. Probably copied in Nancy. Fragments with music later used to reinforce tooled leather covers of rent book of Church of St. George at ducal palace in Nancy. Music discovered by Richard Freedman in 1984; fragments subsequently removed from rent book and numbered as items #5-6 in packet of leaves recovered from rent book binding.
