Two manuscripts that make up a Missal from the Abbey of Anchin. Vol. II has some slightly later additions at the end. The first of these is the two-part sequence Verbum bonum et suave personemus illud ave in score on f. 178-178v. The two voices of the sequence occupy the bottom two staves of each accolade. Apart from the ornaments, the incipit has much in common with W1 313.

RISM Description
RISM B/IV 1: Two 12th century parchment manuscripts meas, respectively 235 x 145 mm. and 239 x 150 mm. and containing 179 and 188 folios. In addition, vol. I has 1 blank unnumbered parchment folio at the front, while vol. II has 2 blank unnumbered parchment folios at the front, 1 at the back and 3 modern blank unnumbered paper folios each end. The two volumes make up a Missal from the Abbey of Anchin with much music in elegant Metz neumes on alternately red and green four-line staves. The old signatures D. 123 and 124 from Anchin are still to be seen. The binding of dark brown leather over wooden boards has designs and blind tooling on the cover; it is dated 1499. The foliation at t.r.r. is a modern one stamped in printer's ink. Both volumes have an incomplete older foliation : vol. I has i-xxxi in Roman numerals of the 15th century or slightly later on f. 149-179, while vol. II has i-CLI in somewhat later figures on f. 29-184 at t.m.v. The script is a slightly Gothic minuscule with initials of various colours, especially red, blue or green, with some miniatures. A fully notated page, of which there are few, contains 16 or 17 staves. Vol. II has some slightly later additions at the end, still in Metz neumes. The first of these is the two-part sequence Verbum bonum et suave personemus illud ave in score on f. 178-178v. There are 3 red four-line staves to an accolade, of which there are 4 per page. Initials are in red or blue. The two voices of the sequence occupy the bottom two staves of each accolade. Apart from the ornaments, the incipit has much in common with W1 313.
