RISM Description
RISM B/IV 2: An 11th-12th century parchment manuscript meas. 205 x 175 mm. and containing 121 folios + 1 blank unnumbered parchment flyleaf at each end. The foliation in brown ink at t.r.r. is probably 18th century, while the binding is of red leather over pulp boards and bears the papal arms in gilt tooling on the spine. The contents are theological, principally saints' lives and miracles, including the lives of St. Amand and Teodericus, the abbot of St. Remigius at Reims. The script is Carolingian minuscule with green or red initials. Metz neumes confirm the North-Eastern French origin of this codex on f. 78v-82v and more delicately on f. 101-103v in the office of St. Amand. The writing on f. 64-65 is later, dating from the 13th century, and the two-part Benedicamus domino in score on f. 65 v is also from the late 13th century. This is notated in larger Metz neumes than the other generally staffless ones on continuously drawn lines. The complete Benedicamus text is set to a single T note "D"; only at "domino" are there more T notes. The whole work is in the Notre Dame style.
