General Description

Flyleaves at either end of a 75 folio MS of Isidore's Sententiarum in 3 books: the first is stuck to the inside of the front cover (together with 3 bits stuck over that), and a similar leaf is on the inside of the back cover. The latter contains the music, but the text on the front leaf and fragments could not be identified. The treatise by Isidore was written at Gottweig: this suggests that the music at the end was also copied there. It consists of a two-part Marian sequence in score Gaude, mater luminis, quam divini, of which the first two double versicles are almost complete. This sequence was widely diffused in Southern Germany and Austria.

RISM Description

RISM B/IV 2: A 13th century parchment manuscript meas. 300 x 212 mm. and containing 75 folios. In addition, there is one 14th century leaf stuck to the inside of the front cover (together with 3 bits stuck over that), and a similar leaf on the inside of the back cover. The latter contains the music, but the text on the front leaf and fragments could not be identified. The ms corpus consists of Isidore's Sententiarum in 3 books; it has a modern pencil foliation at t.r.r. Probably the old binding of wooden boards dates from the Middle Ages, but the brown mottled paper on the covers and the leather spine are quite recent, doubtless 19th century. The fact that the treatise by Isidore was written at Gottweig suggests that the music at the end was also copied there. It consists of a two-part Marian sequence in score Gaude, mater luminis, quam divini, of which the first two double versicles are almost complete. This sequence was widely diffused in Southern Germany and Austria.
