General Description

Originally two in 14th-15th century manuscripts bound together. Contains on f. 1 the text of the so-called Melker Marienlied. On the outer edge of this sheet, and perpendicular to the text, one finds two textless voices, which have nothing to do with the Marian song. Contents: 1 Part of the manuscript: Melker Marienlied (12th century); Kalendarium; various tracts; Catalogus Pontificum. 2. Part: Melker Chronik 1123-1564; Babenberger Chronik. From the monastery of Melk.

RISM Description

RISM B/IV 3: 12./16. Jh.; ursprünglich zwei im 14./15. Jh. zusammengebundene Handschriften von 22 + 69 Pergament-Blätter + 3 am Schluß hinzugefügten Papier-Blätter, 330 x 235 mm. Moderne Foliierung und ältere Pag. - Einband: 18./19. Jh., Leder mit Blindpressung.

Die aus dem Kloster Melk stammende Handschrift enthält auf f. 1 den Text des sog. Melker Marienliedes. Am äußeren Rande dieses Blatt finden sich, senkrecht zum Text notiert, zwei textlose, auf 3 roten Fünfliniensystemen in französischer Mensuralnotation um 1400 aufgezeichnete Stimmen, die mit dem Marienlied jedoch nichts zu tun haben.

Inhalt: 1. Teil der Handschrift: Melker Marienlied (12. Jh.); Kalendarium; verschiedene Traktate; Catalogus pontificum. 2. Teil: Melker Chronik 1123-1564; Babenberger Chronik.
