NOTES ON CONTENTS

As the plate of this item shows, the music is laid out in two-voice score, with the text copied under each voice in 1, and under the lower voice only in 2 and 3. It is not certain, however, that this music is polyphonic, since the the two lines fit very poorly, and since in 1 and 2 both voices carry a known plainsong for Venite exultemus (see AM, pll. 192, 196, 198). The upper voice of 3 has not been identified; the lower voice carries a further plainsong for this text (AM, pl. 194). 1-3 Incomplete; 3 End lost.
