General Description

A modern compilation of medieval fragments, of which no. 9 is a bifolio of polyphonic music. All four items are conductus, although the rondellus technique is employed in no. 1 in even verses. This is indicated by the presence of the rondellus text in blue in the top voice and in red in the middle one. This bifolio was not the middle one of a fascicle.

RISM Description

RISM B/IV 1: A modern compilation of medieval fragments, of which no. 9 is a bifolio of 13th century polyphonic music. The modern binding is of green and black morocco with gilt lines at the corners and on the spine. The parchment bifolio meas. 223 Xl50 mm., but the top margin was originally 2 cm. longer. The notation is of Notre Dame type, but typically English in its use of the English conjunctura and long final notes with up to 9 lines protruding vertically above and below the body of the note. There are 12 red five-line staves per page, and initials are in blue or red alternately. Rhombs also appear from time to time. All four items are conductus, although the rondellus technique is employed in no. 1 in even verses. This is indicated by the presence of the rondellus text in blue in the top voice and in red in the middle one. This bifolio was not the middle one of a fascicle.
