Liminary Note

On reverse of Bassus: "Policarpus Leiser Doct: Jaco: Andreae Schwest Sohn Pastor Vitebergensis.". This suggests the piece was written for the wedding of Polycarp Leyser and Elisabeth, daughter of Lucas Cranach, in 1580.
