General Description

A Bassus Decani partbook, sole survivor of a set of 10 books 'with black Covers for verse Services'. Copied between c.1620 and c.1640 by three scribes: John Todd (pp. 3-73) and Toby Brookinge (pp. 75-79), and one other scribe (Brian Crosby). Copied in Durham, perhaps for ecclesiastical official at Durham Cathedral, or for use by cathedral choir.
