General Description

A parchment strip originally from a choirbook, recovered from a later bookbinding. It contains parts of a Kyrie and Gloria, and evidently came from the upper part of a leaf. The recto contains a fragment (approx. 2 staves of music) of a lower voice part (C4 clef - presumbaly a Contratenor part) from the end of a Kyrie, with a text underlay that includes a small filagreed initial X for the word "Xpriste". The verso contains a fragment from the beginning of the subsequent Gloria (also approx. 2 staves of music) from an upper voice part (C1 clef - presumably the Cantus part), beginning with "[bene]dicimus te…" Although largely notated in black void notation, with black full minims used as semiminims, a three-breve group at the end of the Gloria fragment, consisting of two black full breves with a black full c.o.p. ligature sandwiched between them, undoubtedly represents hemiola.
