General Description

A bifolio (probably including the opening folio) from an early 14th century manuscript, re-used as the endpaper of a late 14th century Austrian or German volume of theological treatises (bound before the mid-15th century).

Probably copied in southern France.

Physical Description

Glued to the rear board; only one side therefore visible (in 1984). Some water damage to bottom; the right-hand side of the right-hand folio (1r) also cut down to fit rear board.

Ownership

Codex's opening folio bears coat of arms of Bernhard von Kraiburg (bishop of Chiemsee (nr. Salzburg) 1467-1477, but bound before he became bishop).
