General Description

A single parchment folio, measuring approximately 17cm x 28cm, from a fourteenth century musical manuscript which was reused as a cover for seventeenth century vital records in Vulbens, Haute-Savoie. The folio's original recto is on the inside of the cover, and its verso is the outside. It contains the first two-thirds of a three-part Credo, identified by Margaret Bent as being concordant with the Credo attributed to Orles in both Ivrea and Apt. The lowest stave of the folio's original recto also contains a musical fragment in a different hand, possibly relating to music that would have been on a facing page. Special thanks to Martine Simon-Perret at the Archives départementales de Haute-Savoie for providing additional information about this source. Discovered by Richard Dudas, July 2021.
