General Description

A deck of cards, woodcut on paper with watercolour, opaque paint, and gold; the backs of the cards are inscribed with musical notations (voice-parts from songs) and lyrics, with each suit given a particular voice: Acorns, bassus; Leaves, tenor; Hearts, discantus; and Bells, altus.

The d’Este arms are hand drawn in pen and ink on the 2 of every suit in this set. Another set is found in the British Museum.
