Copied at Toledo cathedral, the work of a single scribe - named in payment accounts as Alonso Gascon - and compiled as a single unit, though with at least three discernible sections copied apparently at different times.

Binding
Originally bound in black calfskin decorated with crimson velvet beneath corner brackets (inventory 1649); now in wooden boards covered in tooled brown leather, from an undetermined date after 1649. Five large brass studs & numerous smaller studs on each cover.
Foliation
only first 13 folios originally numbered (13 incorrectly as xiiii); modern pencil foliation, Arabic numerals
Decoration
'layers 1 & 2' - initial letters in black ink with decorative labels naming composer and title at top of each page.
'Layer 3' (the Palomares mass) has more decorative ink-drawn illuminated initials & hand signs.
