General Description

Moral and theological tracts, with music on ff. 229'-233. Polyphonic notation, copied by a single scribe; monophonic fragment is later addition by a different hand. Possibly copied at the former Benedictine monastery at Rott am Inn (southern Bavaria). Once owned by Rott am Inn monastery; transferred to Bayerische Staatsbibliothek during 19th century.

RISM B/IV 3: 15. Jh.; 257 Blätter Papier, 215 x 150 mm Moderne Foliierung von f. 1-255 (3 Blätter ohne Foliierung; 1 Blatt fehlt). -Einband: teils 15. Jh., teils modern (1922 restauriert); mit braunem Schweinsleder überzogene Holzdeckel; Beschläge und Schließen fehlen.

Diese Handschrift aus der ersten Hälfte des 15. Jh., stammt aus dem Benediktinerkloster Rott am Inn. Sie enthält zur Hauptsache Theologie- und Moraltraktate, die teilweise von einem Michael Mäusel ("modicum monachi monasterii Marini martyris") eingetragen worden sind. Musikalisches, vielleicht von derselben Hand wie die Traktate, findet sich nur auf f. 229r-233r. Auf f. 229r-233r stehen je 7 Fünfliniensysteme mit schwarzer Mensuralnotation des frühen 15. Jh.; f. 229r enthält neben Texten ein einstimmiges Et dominus fecit... ohne Notenlinien (Mensuralnotation); auf f. 230r steht unterhalb von Incipitverzeichnis Nr. 2 in deutscher Choralnotation: "Singuli singulis simili similisque". Die Notenschrift der mehrstimmigen Stücke weist ähnliche Züge auf wie der Cod. Emmeram (D-Mbs3232a).

Original/modern covers of black-brown half-leather over boards, restored in 1922; clasps and bosses missing. Music on ff. 229'-233 (blank staves on ff. 233'-236; f. 236' blank). Polyphony in black mensural notation, copied by a single scribe; monophonic fragment, in Gothic chant notation, is later addition by a different hand. No initials or decoration. Watermark: three peaks surmounted by cross (not in Briquet).
