General Description

An Altus partbook from a set of six volumes, originally separate but now bound together to form a composite manuscript. Copied by one main scribe, with a few slightly later additions by four other scribes. Probably copied in Turin, for use by court chapel of Carlo Emanuele I (1562-1630), Duke of Savoy.

Covers of dark brown leather over cardboard probably date from 18th century; spine gold tooled with inscription 'ANONI MUSICA.'
