General Description

A collection of folios, dating from approx. 1525-1550, many (or all?) from the same book. Schreurs refers to them as A-H, of which 2 are chant fragments not catalogued here; presumably 2 other folios are non-musical?

Fr. C appears to be reversed (Cv the recto, Cr the verso) while Bv contains sketches for one of the pieces on C. Frr. D-E also belong together, the opening Dv-Er containing all 6vv of "Jamais de ma femme" while Ev contains sketches for the same piece. Fr.F is a bifolio with 6vv of a textles piece written on one side (F1v-F2r); the reverse (like that of fr. A) is apparently blank.

As the fragments include sketches as well as fair copies of some pieces, they may be from a composer's notebook.

Foliation

Shelfmark suggests folios are numbered 87-96; Schreurs calls them A-H (presumably not listing 2 non-musical or blank folios?) of which G-H are chant fragments not listed here. The DIAMM inventory follows Schreurs since correlation between the 2 numbering systems is not known.

This manuscript folio only contains a textless music fragment with an incipit "Au bois de deulx". It is further discussed in Eugeen Schreurs: An Anthology of Music Fragnents from the Low Countries (Leuven, 1995), which also has a facsimile.
