General Description

An Altus partbook from a set of four volumes, each consisting of the print RISM [1519]/5, with manuscript additions following print. Probably copied by Jacob Hagenbach (see below); same scribe also wrote BasU F.IX.59-62, portions of BasU F.X. 17-20, and manuscript addition in BasU kk.IV. 19-22 (KmetzH). Copied in Basel. Originally owned by Jacob Hagenbach (1533-ca. 1566), a Basel goldsmith. Later passed to Hagenbach's grandson, Johann Jakob Hagenbach. Acquired by present library from latter's estate in 1649.

4 paper partbooks, each consisting of the print RISM [1519]/5, with manu-script additions following print (D-v [blank] + 42 [print] + 45 [manuscript and blank] folios, A-i + 44 .+ 45, T-i + 83 + 30, B-i + 44 + 37), 95 x 145. Printed sections have modern pagination. Manuscript sections in each book have separate series of modern pencil foliation—D: I-V [front] + 1-45 [back]; A: I + 1-45; T: I + 1-30; B: I + 1-37. Original covers of dark brown leather over pasteboard, blind stamped front and back with identical decorative designs (floral motifs, vase, birds); modern spines. Some colored ties remain. Probably copied by Jacob Hagenbach (see below); same scribe also wrote BasU F.IX.59-62, portions of BasU F.X. 17-20, and manuscript addition in BasU kk.IV. 19-22 (KmetzH). Staff height 10-11.
