General Description

This codex forms the second volume of the Cartulary of Winchcombe Abbey of 255 leaves, with music on a flyleaf; this has been published by D. Royce as Landboc sive Registrum Monasterii de Winchelcumbe II (1903). The page of music (unnumbered) contains two sequences in three-part score; the second is written in a smaller hand.

RISM Description

RISM B/IV 2 A 15th century vellum manuscript meas. 286 x 200 mm. and containing 510 pages (= 255 folios) paginated in 18th century ink at t.r.r. In addition, there are 1 parchment music folio of the 14th century and 10 folios of index at the beginning + 1 blank parchment folio at the end. The original binding is of skin over wooden boards (1 clasp is missing). The codex forms the second volume of the Cartulary of Winchcombe Abbey and is dated 1422. The corpus has been published by D. Royce as Landboc sive Registrum Monasterii de Winchelcumbe II (1903). The page of music is written in Ars Nova notation on 3 accolades of 3 brown five-line staves per page. Like all the flyleaves, this page is unnumbered. It contains two sequences in three-part score, of which the second is written in a smaller hand. Furthermore, the first piece may have been originally in Petronian notation, since the minims look like a later addition.
