General Description

Possibly part of a roll. Written space is at least 235 x 164 mm, with frame rules, double text-guides in pencil, and ruled indentations (15 mm) for initials. The script is a gothica textualis rotunda. Written in England. Used in a binding, probably over wooden boards, unidentified but probably in the Cathedral Library or Archive; a small fragment of printed matter adheres to the recto of the leaf. Offsets of large green initials appear on the verso, possibly from other parts of this source, or from the material that it was used to bind. Placed in Add. MS 128 in the late 1970s; mounted and repaired, c. 1985. Contains a Hymn to the Virgin. The beginning of Tr and ends of Mot and T lost.

128/2 = not clear whether this was ever anything different

128/5 = CANT 2 (cannot currently be traced) – the current 128/5 is different from CANT contents

128/6 = CANT 3

128/7 = CANT 5 (reported as stolen in 1977) – current 128/7 has no music

128/8 - incorporates the former 128/71 = CANT 1

128/13 – now has no music (seems to have become 128/66)
